New Workspace Inspiration.

For some reason I’ve had a bit of a struggle getting my workspace just right – I’m trying to find the balance between ‘I actually work here’ and ‘I need a nice tidy zone to work in’. I’ve decided that I definitely need more surfaces and also a few more soft furnishings.

At the moment my workspace is very white (walls, floors furniture – see the tour here), which I like as I use it as a studio so it needs to have lots of light. I have a lot of colourful items, so it balances it out – but I would like a few more dashes of colour. I quite like the idea of one wallpapered or painted wall (like the above – source), it could work well as a photo backdrop – but I’m not completely sold on the idea.

In the end I went for a much longer desk, so I can have on it my iMac, room for storage, my printer etc. and also have space for working at and using my sewing machine. I like the desk here (source), it’s got a lot going on but it still feels super clean – I don’t like the idea of a monochrome room though, I need colour!

I’ll definitely be going for a more gold, pastel, metallic vibe like on the left (source), it looks so pretty! I’ve decided to get rid of my Expedit shelves because they take up too much room, so I think I’ll go for high bookshelves instead – we shall see!

I’m enjoying the planning stages far too much, but I can’t wait to have a longer desk! And better storage!

What do you think of my office planning?
